A Taste of Mexico

In 1998, El Paisa began its journey pioneered by Roberto Velasquez. In order to understand “El Paisa’s” taco success you must know a little about Roberto, also known as “Paisa”. He was born and raised in a small working village located outside of Tepatitlan, Jalisco, home of the world famous tequila fields.
From a young age his family depended on him and his siblings to contribute to the family, which meant trudging through long, back breaking days in the fields.  Paisa always dreamed of an easier and better way of life.

Part of his dream came true when he moved to the United States at the age of 17. Much like most immigrants coming to the states, he took any and all jobs to survive. He knew that hard work and determination would lead to better days ahead and allow him to bring his future bride.
While long days of work in his new country were rewarding, he did miss one thing…his love of Mexican food. His abuelita would always make him delicious meals and he always looked forward to trips back home to experience the amazing smells and flavors. Those flavors just couldn’t be found in the states.  After one of his trips he came up wth the idea to bring those flavors to Dallas.  With his wife by his side and a few dollars in his pocket, he purchased an asador and started their venture. They initially started selling in front of a liquor store on Harry Hines. Word quickly spread of the amazing street tacos sold by El Paisa. which always came with a side of enchanting stories. The lines kept getting longer and El Paisa quickly outgrew its makeshift location.  They knew it was time to expand and moved into its current original location.
Today there are 9 El Paisa’s throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. Paisa’s kids now run the business and continue the tradition of servicing authentic Mexican food.  The recipes handed down from Paisa’s abuelita are still used today. Come enjoy our tacos, tortas, burritos, guisos, pozole and menudo and experience a true family tradition of flavors.
